Snowden Wright enjoys time as writer-in-residence at HPMEC

This year’s writer-in-residence at the Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Education Center is Mississippi native Snowden Wright. A graduate of Dartmouth College and Columbia University, Wright’s interest in becoming a writer started at a young age as he was always reading. He has three published novels which have been well received.

Simpson family reunion planned July 5

The family of David E. and Helen Simpson of Boydsville, Arkansas will host a family reunion from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on July 5 at the Rector Community Center. All family members are welcome to come visit and have lunch.

PHS class of 1965 reunion slated

The Piggott High School class of 1965 will hold a 60th class reunion from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 3 at the Piggott Diner. All classmates are encouraged to attend. For additional information, contact Bill Veal at 870-324-0411.

Pollard beauty pageants planned

The annual Pollard Picnic, to benefit the New Hope Cemetery, will be held Saturday, July 12, in Pollard. As usual, this year’s picnic will include a full schedule of beauty pageants for contestants of all ages.

Confederate Memorial Day observed at Four Mile Cemetery

John L. Patterson Chapter 2682, United Daughters of the Confederacy, sponsored a Wreath Ceremony for Confederate Memorial Day on Tuesday, June 3, at Four Mile Cemetery northwest of Campbell. President Mary Bess Green welcomed the attendees including Missouri Division President Judy Frerking of Marshall, Missouri., and Division Registrar Velma Cole of Florence, Missouri.
