The Rector Cougar 4-H Club made an outstanding showing at the County 4-H O’Rama held on Monday, May 19. Several club members competed in a variety of categories, bringing home top honors and earning the opportunity to represent Clay County at the upcoming District O’Rama.

Two Corning residents were arrested on drug charges following a search warrant, according to the sheriff’s department.
On Saturday, May 10, 2025, the Cougar 4-H Club held its annual awards banquet to celebrate the accomplishments of its members during the 2024 program year. The event recognized outstanding participation and achievement across three age divisions: Cloverbuds (ages 5–8), Juniors (ages 9–13), and Seniors (ages 14–19), based on each member’s 4H age, which is determined by their age on January 1 of the program year.
Hillary French, a 2009 graduate of Piggott High School, graduated from Arkansas College of Osteopathic Medicine on May 17, 2025 with plans to practice in Piggott at the end of her residency at UAMS North Central Regional Campus-Batesville. French did her masters in 2020 and graduated from Arkansas Colleges of Health Education in Fort Smith in 2021 and began medical school in July of 2021.

The Rector Public Library is geared-up for a busy June and July as the Summer Reading Program returns. This year’s theme is “Color Our World”. The programs are at 9 a.m. Wednesdays during the month of June and will continue through July 23. This year two Monday programs have been added on June 16 and July 21. The 2025 Summer Reading Program is open to children of all ages, with prizes, drawings, stories, reading logs, and more.
