Parks Cemetery accepting donations

Parks Cemetery, located 2 miles west of Rector, is in need of donations for the upkeep of the cemetery. “If you have loved ones buried at the cemetery we would appreciate your do-nation,” commented a spokesperson. PHS class of 1968 get-together set

The Piggott High School class of 1968 will hold a get-together from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 3, at the Piggott Diner. The event is casual attire and buffet will be available for purchase for those attending. “We look forward to seeing you there,” commented a class member.

Special Olympics Torch Run begins in Piggott

Special Olympics Arkansas Area 1 began its torch run on Monday, May 19, with the torch being carried by local law enforcement. Officers from all over the state will carry the Flame of Hope in their cities from which the iconic flame will make its way to Little Rock.

CARGILL DONATES TO RECTOR BACKPACK PROGRAM

Rector School District recently received a generous donation for their weekend backpack program from Cargill Cotton Company as part of their Cargill Cares initiative.The Cargill Cotton Company is the exclusive buyer of cotton from producers such as Graves Gin at Hargrave Corner. “Donations such as this keep our backpack program alive and make it possible to send weekly food bags home with students who can benefit from the additional support.We are so thankful to be partnering with Cargill again to help students and families in our community,” commented RES Principal Mark Manchester.
