Piggott Livestock 4-H Club elects new officers

Piggott Livestock 4-H group held its April meeting at Heritage Park on Tuesday, April 15. The club voted in new officers and planned their meetings for the upcoming months. New officers include Claire McKenney, president; Joseph Hanners, vice president; Thyme Parrish, secretary; Timothy Bare, reporter and Bryant Smart, recreation leader.

‘Rector – Always Home’ theme for annual banquet

Rector – Always Home served as the theme for the Rector Chamber of Commerce Banquet held Thursday, April 24, at the Crockett Multi-Purpose Room at the Rector Community Center. With a pitch perfect keynote address, guest of honor Tim Ingram, Clay County Central 1986 graduate, brought together memories and offered insight as to the meaning of “home” for him. As a television and radio professional, he has led a nomadic life by climbing the corporate ladder. Quick to point out that he does not regret the moves to various market locations, he stated, “The heart knows where home is.”

Rector Cougar track update

The 2A-3 Jr. High District Track Meet was held Wednesday, April 23 at Pocahontas High School. Rector Cougar track team along with Piggott, Corning, Marmaduke, Riverside and Cross County competed. Rector athletes did a great job representing their community. The following is a list of athletes that finished in the top three of their event: Tyson Vavak - 2nd 800 Meter Run, 3rd 1600 Meter Run DJ McGuire - 3rd Long Jump Taylor Jaco - 3rd 200 Meter Dash Corbyn Anderson, Brennan Emery, DJ McGuire, Kory Tanner - 3rd 4x100 Relay, 3rd 4x200 Relay Taylor Jaco, Jaylee Hollis, Adrianna Jackson, Chloe Horn - 3rd 4x200 Relay On Thursday, April 17 the Rector Cougar track team traveled to Piggott for the 2025 Hunter Midkiff Invitational. The team came home with several 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishes. The following is a list of medal winners.

RDC to host Main Street May Fest Saturday

Rector Downtown Central, affiliated with Main Street Arkansas, and partners with the City of Rector and RectorArea Chamber of Commerce, is hosting Main Street May Fest on May 3 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. in downtown Rector. The May Fest hub will be The Caffeinated Cow, local coffee and ice cream shop.

Lady Cougars fall to Lady Hornets

The Holcomb Lady Hornets came out with the win on Monday afternoon at the Lady Cougar’s home field. Izabella Blount commanded the mound for the home team. Anna Isom held short stop with Anniston Scott at first base. Libby Green returned to second base and newcomer Kendal Brandon held down third base. Makayla Ward was behind the plate. Millie Murry, Samantha Garcia and Julie Stallings took the outfield.
