The senior Rector Lady Cougars were recognized prior to Thursday night’s game against the BIC Lady Mustangs. Seniors honored included Libby Green, daughter of Brad Green and April Green and Alejandra DeJesus, foreign exchange student of host parents Adam and Bridgette Branson.

Time travel through music is the promise from the Rector Community Museum’s Ford Room for its upcoming show at 7 p.m. on Friday night, April 25. Just one note for most Baby Boomer generation music lovers and the curtains to the past open. Transport from one era to the next is possible through music. Just a few bars and one phrase of the lyrics and the friends appear, perhaps conversations, and with a blink of the eye, it’s high school graduation day all over again.
The public testing, and logic and accuracy test, for the upcoming May 13 Election in Clay County will be held beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 26. The testing will be conducted at the Corning election ware-house, located at 435 Southwest Second Street in Corning. The testing is open to the public. Those wanting additional information may contact Clay County Election Coordinator Karen Cagle at 870-240-3295.
Effective April 21, the Clay County Times-Democrat increased its single copy rate to $1.25. This necessary adjustment helps support continued coverage and operations. Newspaper racks have been changed accordingly along with the inside newspaper dealers. Thank you for your continued support!
Parks Cemetery, located 2 miles west of Rector, is in need of donations for the upkeep of the cemetery. “If you have loved ones buried at the cemetery we would appreciate your do-nation,” commented a spokesperson. Rector School Board met in regular session on Monday, April 14, at 5:30 p.m. at the Administration Building. In addition to the minutes of the regular meeting in March, the board approved the special meeting minutes when on March 20 the board accepted Matt Mill’s resignation as golf coach and hired Tyler Riddle as head girls basketball coach and golf coach as well as high school teacher.
Rachel Jordan and Destiny Hall, both of Piggott, were recipients of the spring 2025 Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund (ASPSF) for Clay County.
