The Clay County Quorum Court met in regular session on Monday, March 17 at the courthouse in Piggott with Justices Dennis Haines, Patrick Patterson, David Hatcher, Jody Henderson and David Cagle present. Justices George Lowe, Randy Kingston and Brad Green were absent.

Black RiverArea Development Corporation has announced the winter regular assistance program will close on Monday, March 31. Applications for winter crisis assistance will continue until Wednesday, April 30 or until funds are depleted. Applications will be accepted from 9 a.m. to noon, and from 1 to 3 p.m., on the second and fourth Mondays at the Piggott Community Center located at 161 E. Farmers and landowners are encouraged to register their 2024 wells and relifts before Monday, March 31. For more information you may visit the Clay Conservation District/NRCS office at 168 East Main Street in Piggott or call Daniel Gosset at 870-598-2287 Ext. 3. Failure to register wells before March 31, 2025, will result in a late fee as well as the registration fee.
The annual Rector Area Chamber of Commerce banquet, Rector….Always Home, is scheduled for Thursday, April 24 at 6:30 p.m. at the Rector Community Center.
