The Rector High School Class of 1963 will celebrate their 60th class reunion at 3 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 2, 2, at the Rector First United Methodist Church Educational Building, located at 116 W. Third St., Rector.

The 2023 Rector Labor Day t- shirts are now on sale at several locations in the city. They may be purchased at Centennial Bank, Rector Downtown Drug, Our Happy Place, The Caffeinated Cow and Big Time Pizza. All sizes are available for $ 20.00 each. There are no sizes smaller than a youth small. Also available are can koozies for $ 6.00 each. All checks need to be made payable to Woodland Heights Cemetery.

Dana Carole Hayes Dana Carole Hayes, 79, of Jonesboro, passed from this life on August 21, 2023, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. Dana was a genuine person that had a pure heart and a beautiful smile.

Louise Dalton Louise Dalton, 94, of Piggott, Ark., passed away August 22, 2023, at Belle Meade in Paragould, Ark. She was born on February 10, 1929, in Gibson, Mo., and was the daughter of Marvin and Lola (McFarland) Sanford.

Thelma Marie Chadwell

Thelma Marie Chadwell Thelma Marie Chadwell (nee Roark), born on June 7, 1931,danced her way into Heaven on Saturday, August 19, 2023, and was reunited, in what was no doubt an epic party, with her parents, Oscar “Dock” and Ruth Roark (nee Felts), three brothers Carl Lee, Charles, and Paul “Sonny” Roark, and sister Faye Plummer. Marie was renowned for her pie-making abilities and was happiest in the kitchen cooking for those she loved.

Nimmons Old Timers Dinner scheduled for Sept. 3

Organizers of the annual Nimmons Old Timers Dinner note it’s that time of year again. This year’s dinner will be held beginning at noon on Sunday, Sept. 3, at the community center. Current, and former, residents of the Nimmons area are invited to attend, and bring a dish for the potluck meal. They’ll also be accepting donations at the door, with the proceeds going toward the continued upkeep of the Nimmons Cemetery.
