Thelma Marie Chadwell Thelma Marie Chadwell (nee Roark), born on June 7, 1931,danced her way into Heaven on Saturday, August 19, 2023, and was reunited, in what was no doubt an epic party, with her parents, Oscar “Dock” and Ruth Roark (nee Felts), three brothers Carl Lee, Charles, and Paul “Sonny” Roark, and sister Faye Plummer. Marie was renowned for her pie-making abilities and was happiest in the kitchen cooking for those she loved.
Dana Carole Hayes Dana Carole Hayes, 79, of Jonesboro, passed from this life on August 21, 2023, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. Dana was a genuine person that had a pure heart and a beautiful smile.

According to a report from the Clay County Sheriff’s Department on Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2023, at approximately 12:46 p.m., a Clay County Deputy made a traffic stop on a Chevrolet Blazer just outside of McDougal. There were two occupants in the vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, 42-year-old Tammy D. Lutes of McDougal. The driver’s window would not roll down, so she opened the door of the vehicle and a baggy with a white substance was in plain view. The passenger of the vehicle was 43-year-old Danielle Householder of Paragould. The deputy got both individuals out of the vehicle and conducted a search of the vehicle. Both subjects were arrested for possession of controlled substance meth and possession of controlled substance marijuana. They were both transported to The Clay County Detention Center.

With the approach of the Labor Day holiday, the Woodland Heights Cemetery Commission is once again conducting a $1,000 drawing as a fundraiser. The drawing will take place on Monday, Sept. 4, on the main stage at the Rector Memorial Park following the Miss Rector Pageant. Persons do not have to be present to win.
The Rector High School Class of 1963 will celebrate their 60th class reunion at 3 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 2, 2, at the Rector First United Methodist Church Educational Building, located at 116 W. Third St., Rector.
