1982 Piggott’s Second Annual Christmas Parade was held Tuesday, December 7th. The first place float went to First Church of God, second place float was Merle Norman Cosmetics and Her Closet and third place went to Piggott State Bank.

American Red Cross responds to year of crises

2022 has been a year of crisis for families throughout the Missouri and Arkansas Red Cross Region, as well as across the globe — from flooding and tornadoes locally to extreme disasters such as Hurricane Ian, severe floods in Kentucky and wildfires out West; the ongoing conflict in Ukraine; and the first-ever national American Red Cross blood crisis in January 2022.

Rector Cougars are 8-Man State Runners-Up

Rector’s Cougar football team brought home the 8Man Football State Runnerup trophy, a large piece of impressive hardware made possible by years of program hard work and support and a group of gutsy, toughnosed football players wearing Cougar blue, representing their town, their school, their families, their coaches, and themselves – their own hard work, courage, determination. Izard County Consolidated won the contest by ten points, the game far closer than the score revealed, Rector 26 – ICC 36.

Piggott Christmas Fest and parade held

A sunny day with a cool wind greeted the crowd at the Piggott Christmas Fest on Saturday, Dec. 3 on the court square. The fest is held as a part of the chamber promotion of “The 12 Days of Christmas” and as usual included the annual parade.

RFD responds to house fire

On Saturday, Nov. 26, Rector Fire Department received a call of smoke venting from a house located at 115 N. Phillips St. Upon arrival the fire had already broken through the roof. Greenway and Marmaduke Fire Departments were requested for assistance. Neighbors verified that there were no occupants at home and contact was made to the homeowner, Brandon Lind, as he was out of town. Due to construction and intensity of the fire it was a difficult it was a difficult extinguishment complicated with a complete roof collapse. Fire was controlled and extinguished and all units performed salvage and overhaul and returned to duty.

Holiday Tour of Homes to be held

The traditional Holiday Tour of Homes will be held from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 11. Tickets are $25 each and are limited. The 2022 tour will feature the Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and the homes of Roger and Suzie Morris, Joe and Tracy Cole and Mark and Tonya Smith.
