Jerry Donald Webster, 81, of Piggott, Ark., passed away November 9, 2022. He was born on January 25, 1941, in Carryville, Ark., and was the son of the late Silas Lawrence and Helen Malone (Simpson) Webster.

Janice Bedwell, 66, of Sherwood, Ark., passed away November 2, 2022, at her home in Sherwood. She was born on February 22, 1956, in Piggott, Ark., and was the daughter of James and Virginia (Kitchen) Bedwell.

Nicky Moody, 81, of Greenway, Ark., passed away November 7, 2022, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.

Novis Darrell Stevens passed away at home in Peachtree City, Georgia, on Sunday, November 6, 2022. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Carol Stevens; five children, Carolyn Stevens, Judy Martin (Jim), Verni Novis (Bubby) Stevens, Jr.

Clay County Cattlemen’s Association to meet

The Clay County Cattlemen’s Association regular meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. this Thursday, Nov. 17, at the Clay County Fairgrounds Kitchen. The meal will be provided by Farmers Business Network. All members are also requested to bring one toy each, to be donated to the Arkansas Department of Human Services for their Christmas project.

4H Tech Changemakers announce series of workshops teaching digital skills

The 4H Tech Changemakers are excited to announce a series of workshops teaching digital skills to help people access important resources and learn the most in-demand digital skills. These workshops are free and open to everyone. The next workshop will be held from 4 to 5 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 16, at the Piggott Public Library located at 361 W. Main St. The lesson will focus on email basics and other digital questions and answers. You are asked to bring your digital device (cell phone, iPad, laptop, etc.) that you would like additional help to some of your questions.

Sparklight hoodie drive underway for PHS

Sparklight, in conjunction with Piggott High School, is having a drive to fill student resource supplies. The goal is to collect 50 new or gently used hoodies through Nov. 18. For each hoodie collected, Sparklight will match with a ten-dollar donation up to $500 for the school to purchase additional items which students need most. Hoodies may be dropped off at the Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce office by the railroad tracks or at the Sparklight office located at 155 South Third Street.

Piggott FUMC chili supper planned Nov. 17

The Piggott First United Methodist Church will host their annual chili supper from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 17. The popular local event will be drive thru only. The church is located at the corner of North Third Avenue and West Cherry Street. The meal will consist of chili, crackers, homemade dessert and cutlery and the cost is $7 per person. The public is invited and urged to attend.
