Classes and grade levels are competing to see who can bring the most items, with a can counting as one item along with boxes or packages of such items as macaroni and cheese or ramen noodles. Food drive organizers requested that individually wrapped items, such as fruit snacks or cereal bars, should not be separated and a box of such items would be counted as one item in the contest.
