Toys in the Trunk planned Nov. 12

The annual “Toys in the Trunk” toy drive will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12, at the Dollar General Market in Piggott. The toy drive, which will benefit local kids at Christmas time, is co-sponsored by the Dollar General Market and Piggott Heritage Cruisers with support sponsorship by Sonic, Piggott Fire Department and the Piggott Police Department. The public is invited to stop by during the drive and donate. The Heritage Cruisers will have several classic cars there as well as a police car and a fire truck. You may vote for your favorite car by putting a toy in the trunk.

Second Saturday Art on the Ridge set

The next Second Saturday Art on the Ridge event is set for Nov. 12. First National Bank will be sponsoring the turkey decorating competition and prizes will be awarded as vouchers for area businesses.

Mitchell Cemetery plans benefit yard sale

A benefit yard sale for Mitchell Cemetery in Greenway will be held Nov. 3, 4 and 5 at the Mitchell Cemetery kitchen on the Greenway Picnic grounds. The sale will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. For more information contact Jane Cook at 870-324-0236.

Sparklight hoodie drive underway for PHS

Sparklight, in conjunction with Piggott High School, is having a drive to fill student resource supplies. The goal is to collect 50 new or gently used hoodies through Nov. 18. For each hoodie collected, Sparklight will match with a ten-dollar donation up to $500 for the school to purchase additional items which students need most. Hoodies may be dropped off at the Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce office by the railroad tracks or at the Sparklight office located at 155 South Third Street.

1982 Sectional Manager/Postmaster Bonnie Eldridge has announced that Scot Sale, Piggott postal clerk, has been selected to serve as officer in charge postmaster at the Knobel post office. At the Carolyn Theatre this week, “Fast Times at Ridgemont High”.

Sugar cookie class to be held Nov. 15

Holiday season is almost here and just in the nick of time Pat Self will be teaching a workshop on making her famous sugar cookies. Class will be offered at the Piggott Community Center at 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 15 with a fee of $15 per person. HPMEC is sponsoring the event which has limited class space. There will be a hands-on demonstration with samples to take home (bring your own container). Class fee must be paid at the time of registration. For more information you may call 870-598-3484.
