Lonnie Orr

Lonnie William Orr was born to Jane Willard April 28, 1967 and at the age of 55 passed from this life October 9, 2022. He was surrounded by family, friends and loved ones. He wore a smile and cherished the stories he shared as the day went by into the night.

Lester Binkley

Lester Binkley, 87, of Paragould, Ark., passed away October 22, 2022, at his daughter’s home in Paragould. He was born on February 9, 1935, in Nimmons, Ark., and was the son of the late Aaron and Anna Binkley.

Ella Nadine Dowdy

Ella Nadine Dowdy, 97, of Rector, Ark., passed away on October 18, 2022 at the NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro, Ark. She was born in Piggott, Ark., to the late John and Lula (Thompson) Nettles. Ella was a special woman and loved by many. Her top priority was her family. She loved mentoring all the children who came along, teaching them the values and love that she had. At family dinners, everyone anticipated a slice of grandma’s homemade apple pie. She was very involved with her church at Fifth and Pine Church of Christ in Rector. She and the ladies from the community were amazing quilters who often designed their own patterns. She was also excellent at ceramics and would let the younger children help with that sometimes. She was a part of the church ladies who designed their own cookbook which many still love and use.

Piggott FBC to host fifth Sunday singing

First Baptist Church of Piggott will host a fifth Sunday singing at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 30, with the theme for the night being “When we all get to heaven”. Singers from FBC, Hitts Chapel and the First General Baptist Church will be leading a night of worship and praise.

Piggott native publishes debut novel

Rhonda Wiley-Jones, a native of Piggott, published her debut novel, “Song of Herself” this fall. Books in paperback and kindle versions can be purchased on Amazon. An audio version will be released in the near future.

Piggott Farmers Market to host fall extravaganza

Piggott Farmers Market will hold a fall extravaganza from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29 at the First National Bank Pavilion on Main Street. There will be prize drawings with first place being $10 in market bucks to be used at any farmers market vendor, second drawing is for a plant from Williams Nursery, the third drawing will also be for $10 market bucks and the grand prize will be a basket full of goodies from the vendors. Tickets will be fifty cents each or five tickets for $2.25 or 10 tickets for $4.25.
