Rector School Board met on Monday, Oct. 10, at the Administrative Building. A quorum was present with vice-president Mike Trail chairing the meeting in the absence of president Jody Simmons. Chase Sain was also absent from the meeting.
Maybe the kids don’t have all the fun in October. Costumes, parties, candy by the pillow-case full consume thoughts as the days hasten toward the end of October. The Rector Community Museum says, “Let’s do something different. Most people have not seen a great magician in person. If you have not, this is your chance.” The show is set for 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 20. The Museum doors open at 6 p.m. with the Ford Room doors opening at 6:30 p.m. Rector Community Museum is located at 310 Main Street.
Patricia Joan French 90, of Rector, Ark., departed this life on October 5, 2022 while a resident of Stonebridge Assisted Living in Pocahontas, Ark. She was born November 20, 1931 in Rector, to the late Amzie McCord and Velma “Garrett” McCord.
John W. Dover, 79, of Piggott, Ark., passed away October 8, 2022, at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro, Ark.
A homemade pie crust class, sponsored by Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Education Center, will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 27 at the Piggott Community Center. Each person will get firsthand experience and will be able to take a crust home. Class space is limited and filling up fast. Registration fee is $10 per person and must be paid upon registering. The City of Rector is repairing the brickwork supporting the Welcome to Rector sign that was damaged several weeks ago by an unknown driver and automobile. The sign is located east of Rector on Hwy. 49.
Jim and Patricia Mabrey will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a dropin reception from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23 at their home located at 214 Idlewild Street in Rector. The couple was wed Oct. 20, 1972 at the Rector First General Baptist Church with Rev. Dobie Shelton officiating.
