Homecoming set at A-State

Homecoming Week is underway at Arkansas State University and culminates Saturday, Oct. 1, when the Red Wolves take on the Louisiana- Monroe Warhawks in a game nationally televised by ESPN+. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at Centennial Bank Stadium.

Saw You at the Pole set Sept. 28

Shady Grove Baptist Church will host “Saw You at the Pole” beginning at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 28. Shady Grove is located two miles east of Piggott on U.S. Highway 62. At 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 16, Jarrod Lowe will be ordained as pastor of the church.

Great Arkansas Cleanup set Saturday at Lake Charles

Volunteers are needed to participate in this year’s Great Arkansas Cleanup from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m Saturday, Oct. 1, at Lake Charles State Park. Each year the Great Arkansas Cleanup welcomes partici-pants to join park staff in keeping the Natural State as beautiful as possible. Rector Cougars escape with win over ICC

With 7:54 remaining in the second quarter, the score between the Rector Cougars and the Izard County Central Cougars was all tied up at 6, the game being a true cat fight. The hometown Cougars were not at their best. Interceptions and turnovers marked the first half with the score knotted at 14 as the teams made their way to their respective halftime huddles.

4-H Youth Leadership tour capitol

Each year, Clay County offers a 4-H Youth Leadership Program for high school juniors in cooperation with local schools and sponsors. The program was established to provide eleventh grade students with the opportunity to develop leadership skills necessary to improve their school environment and encourage them to become actively involved in their communities by volunteering.
