Plans are underway for a reunion of all descendants and relatives of the late Newton Jasper McCoy and Arthur Collier. The event will take place from 12 noon until 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10 at the Rector Community Center. Everyone is asked to bring a dish and enjoy the fellowship. The annual Greenway School reunion will be held beginning at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 5, at the Piggott Diner. Organizers encourage all former students to attend, and noted the event will be Dutch Treat. Those wanting information may contact Jane Cook at 870-324-0236.

Organizers of the annual Nimmons Old Timers Dinner are happy to announce the dinner will once again take place. This year’s dinner will be held beginning at noon on Sunday, Sept. 4, at the community center. Current, and former, residents of the Nimmons area are invited to attend, and bring a dish for the potluck meal. They’ll also be accepting donations at the door, with the proceeds going toward the continued upkeep of the Nimmons Cemetery.
Lura May Temerian, 90 of Rector, passed away on July 4, 2022 at the Piggott Community Hospital. She was born in Rector, Ark., to the late Morgan and Mary Vernelia (Wright) King. She was a very active woman who stayed busy even in her senior years. She taught school for over 30 years and was loved by many of her students. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rector, and also a member of the Alpha Delta Kappa organization. She owned and operated the Corner Bookstore and the 4th Street Treasures. She loved her family and all of the team members that her husband coached in football during the years.
Mary Othella (Arnold) Gipson, age 99, died of natural causes at the General Baptist Nursing Home on July 10, 2022. Born December 20, 1922, at Cotton Hill, Dunklin County, Mo., just west of Tallapoosa.
Carol A. Service, age 69, of Hord, Ill., passed away Saturday morning, July 9, 2022, at the Carle Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney, surrounded by her caring family.
Bobby Joe Spinks, 81, of Piggott, Ark., passed away July 4, 2022, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Mo. He was born on January 28, 1941, in Corning, Ark., and was the son of Joseph and Beulah (Johns) Spinks.
