PHS class of 1962 reunion set July 4

The PHS Class of 1962 will be celebrating the 60th anniversary of their high school graduation on July 4, 2022. Class members plan to meet at the kitchen of the picnic grounds at 12:30 p.m. for lunch with visitation to follow. Friends from that era are welcome to join them for informal reminiscing. The Class of ’62 looks forward to celebrating with their friends from classes in the 60’s.

Allman named to Chancellor’s List at UALR

Makayla Allman, of Piggott, has been named to the Spring 2022 Chancellor’s List at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Allman is a 2020 PHS graduate and the daughter of Scott and Leiann Allman.

Local students named to WBU Dean’s List

Williams Baptist University has released the names of students on the President’s and Dean’s Lists for the 2022 spring semester. The President’s List includes those fulltime students who achieved a perfect 4.0 grade point average, while the Dean’s List consists of those with at least a 3.5 GPA.

FIRST COLLECTION SERVICES TRAINING

Last August at a Lunch and Learn former Piggott resident, Gary Adams, introduced new job opportunities for the community. These jobs were through First Collection Services out of Little Rock and would be work from home. Today there are approximately 40 local people working for the company, which held the last training for the time being at the community center on Wednesday, June 22. These ladies are excited to get started on their new job for FCS next week. ASU announces list of graduating students

Arkansas State University has announced the list of students who completed degree requirements to graduate at Spring Commencement, held May 7 in Centennial Bank Stadium. The list includes graduates from 44 states and 16 other countries. Among the local students are Tara Michelle Hoggard, Stephanie LeAnn Blackmon, Alyssa E. Taylor and Valerie Faith Bowen of Piggott and Sydney Nicole Wofford, Sara N. McDonald, Amber N. Beck, Cheyenne Ruth Dinkins, Carter Joseph Pence and Ethan Edward Simmons of Rector.

Lora Fay Collier

The last of the “Conley girls” has left our midst and will be sorely missed. Lora Fay Collier, 87 years old, died on Sunday, June 19, 2022, in her home in Piggott, Ark. She was born on Wednesday, April 17, 1935, to Doylis Odell Conley and Alma Marie (nee Baker) Conley in Pollard, Ark. She was the second of four daughters. Mrs. Dora Causey sat with her mother during the birth and was considered her godmother.
