Harps Food Store in Rector donates to Rector Community Museum

Harps Food Store in Rector has donated $3000 to the Rector Community Museum tuckpoint project, an urgent need in repairing the north wall of the historic building located at 310 Main Street. The museum has been requesting private donations to gather enough money to meet requirements to apply for a grant to complete the entire brick surface of the building which is over 100 years old. Over time, wind storms and rain storms have taken their toll on the historic structure and, sooner than anticipated, a section of bricks fell from the north wall onto the sidewalk at the handicap entrance to the museum. The donation from Harps exceeded the request from the museum board and the museum’s project manager Marvin Gatewood said, “We so very much appreciate Harps donation to this urgent project and we hope other businesses and individuals will follow their lead.” Donations may come to the museum by contacting Marvin Gatewood (870-783-0220) or Joey Pruett (870-595- 4053) or by check to Rector Community Museum, P.O. Box 313, Rector, AR 72461. Checks should be labeled Tuckpoint Project.
