Sugar Creek Country Club hosts two-gal scramble
The Sugar Creek Country Club hosted its annual two-gal scramble golf tournament on Wednesday, June 1 with twenty teams taking part in the 18-hole event. A delicious lunch was served after play.

Once again, a full schedule of pageants from birth to 20 years will accompany the Piggott Fourth of July picnic. The first three pageants will be held the evening of July 3, with the remainder being held on July 4. All pageants will be held on the stage at the picnic grounds.
The public testing, and logic and accuracy test, for the upcoming June 21 Piggott School Board Run- Off Election, will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 11. The testing will be conducted at the Corning election warehouse, located at 435 Southwest Second Street in Corning. The testing is open to the public. A retirement celebration is planned from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, June 9, for Clay County FCA Agent, Debbie Baker. Baker is retiring after 18 years of service. The event is being held at Piggott First Baptist Church, 480 W. Main Street. Those who would like to send a card may do so by mailing to 148 East Main Street, Piggott, AR 72454.
Zane Holloway of Rector, was among more than 1,300 students recently named to the spring 2022 Dean’s List at the University of Central Arkansas. Eligibility on the Dean’s List requires at least a 3.5 GPA with a minimum course load of 12 credit hours.
Carl Edward and Elaine (Smith) Lovelady will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on June 9. The couple was married on June 9, 1972 at the Church of Christ in Campbell, Mo., by C.O.
New Hope Baptist Church invites all kids to their Spark Studios VBS kickoff from 10 a.m. until noon on Saturday, June 11 at Pollard City Park. Prepare to spark imagination and kick creativity into high gear. Kids will learn how they are created in Christ and designed for God’s purpose. Applications to BRTC’s Practical Nursing Evening Program are now open. This is a ten and a half month program that will begin on August 15, 2022 and end on June 30, 2023. The program will be held on the Pocahontas campus Monday-Friday.
Dorothy “Dottie” Anne Glasgow, 76, passed from this walk of life on May 30, 2022, at her home. Dottie was born on July 26, 1945, in Cleveland, Ohio, to parents, George and Elizabeth Anne (Hanthorne) Becks.
Thomas “Thom” Delbert Hill, Jr. was born in Paragould, Ark.
