HPMEC Summer Writer’s Retreat planned

The Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Education Center in Piggott will host its Summer 2022 Writer’s Retreat June 13 through the 17. The retreat will be held in the education center and the Hemingway barn-studio and will offer writers the opportunity to work under the direction of a professional mentor.

Annual Piggott car show held

A large turnout of both entries and spectators turned out Saturday for the 23rd edition of the Piggott Heritage Car Show. Activities kicked-off Friday with the traditional chicken wing dinner served to participants at the First National Bank pavilion, with the majority of those who arrived early taking advantage of the fare courtesy of FNB.

Mary’s Chapel Cemetery meeting set June 5

The annual Mary’s Chapel Cemetery meeting will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 5, in the conference room of the Rector Community Center. Anyone with ties to the cemetery is urged to attend and help support the cemetery.

WBU announces graduates

Williams Baptist University awarded degrees to 85 graduates during its 2022 commencement exercises held Saturday, May 7. The graduates represented 15 Arkansas counties, 12 states and three nations.

PES YOUTH POWER PLAY

As they have for decades, members of the Piggott Elementary School fourth grade classes joined forces last week for the annual Youth Power Play. This year’s musical, “From the Inside Out,” was under the direction of counselor Barbara Batey, music teacher Ellen Meadows, and classroom teachers Bridgette Branson, Vickie Brown, Haley Baker and Laura Murray. Nominations are being accepted for the Piggott Schools PACE program (Program for Academic and Creative Excellence). Nomination forms may be picked up and returned to the elementary school or high school offices.
