Clay County Fair to begin Sept. 13
The Clay County Fair will be held Wednesday through Saturday, Sept. 13 through 16, at the fairgrounds in Piggott. Keeping with recent tradition, the annual pageants will be held in conjunction with the fair Saturday, Sept. 9, beginning at 9:30 a.m. with the Baby Mr. and Miss Clay County pageants, and will continue throughout the day. Cong. Rick Crawford visits Piggott School District
The Piggott School District was honored to have Congressman Rick Crawford stop by on Wednesday, Aug. 30, to discuss issues that may be affecting local school districts.
BRTC Board of Trustees quartely meeting set
The next meeting of the Black River Technical College (BRTC) Board of Trustees is scheduled for 12:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 7. The meeting will be held at the BRTC Paragould lo-cation in the Greene County Industrial Training Center, room ITC 105.

Hemingway in Comics exhibit open at A-State
A special exhibit featuring the likeness of Ernest Hemingway will be available from Sept. 1 through Oct. 20 at Arkansas State University Museum. The exhibit is open 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on weekdays and on Saturdays.
Maynard Pioneer Days planned
The 43rd annual Maynard Pioneer Days is set Thursday, Sept. 14 through Saturday, Sept. 16. They’ll kick things off this year with “School Night” at 5 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 14, at the Pioneer Park and Museum. The festivities continue on Friday with craft booths, food and a free concert by Cory Jackson at 7 p.m. The annual parade is set for 10 a.m. on Saturday, with other activities including a turkey shoot at 1 p.m. There will also be crafts, concessions, blacksmithing demonstrations and music from Dixon Street. Fishing rodeo Saturday at Heritage Park
The City of Piggott Parks and Recreation and the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission is set to host the 2023 annual family fishing rodeo at Heritage Park. This year’s rodeo will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 9. The event is open to those 15 and under. Organizers note only one pole may be used for each competitor, and there is a three fish limit. Arkansas fishing licenses are required for adults.
Annual RHSSHOF golf tournament a great success
RHSSHOF annual golf tournament was held Friday, Sept. 1, at the Kennett Country Club.
