Barbara Jo Souheaver

Barbara Jo Souheaver was born September 6, 1938, to Dallas and Vada Marie (Nesbitt) Souheaver, and left this world on May 18, 2022, at Rector Nursing and Rehab Center.

She is survived by a nephew, Sam (Ann) Presley of Paragould, and her sisters Jean Cole of Rector, and Kay Smith of Oak Grove, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Franklin Souheaver, sisters, Detta Lou Lovett, Margaret (Sissy) Roberts, and Virginia (Hable) McDaniel.

Barb worked at Emerson Electric until she couldn’t anymore. Her health had not always been the best. She had rheumatoid arthritis for many years. Her health kept deteriorating over the years. She enjoyed painting, and listening to Gospel music.

Ms. Barbara was known for loving her animals, Susie the cat, along with Skipper and Bo, her dogs. She also loved horses.

She loved her family, and her caregivers. She never married, nor had children, but was the best aunt to all her nieces, and nephews, and even the next generations of great and great-great nieces and nephews. If anyone went to Paragould, it usually consisted of a trip by to see Aunt Bobby.

She will be remembered as the cool aunt who had the Starsky & Hutch car. The one that used ponds cold cream, and never had any wrinkles. She loved her gospel music, and she loved the Lord.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2022, at Mitchell Funeral Home, 1520 Highway 49 North, Paragould, with Larry McFadden officiating. Burial followed at Browns Chapel Cemetery.

Honored to serve as pallbearers were Jimmy O. McDaniel, Mark Thomas, Jason Avery, Kaden Avery, and Austin Avery.

Honorary pallbearers were Ryan Smith, Mark Stewart, Bart Clark, and Cache Clark.
