Billie Jean Fielder

Billie Jean Fielder, 95, of Greenway,Ark., passed away June 17, 2024, at home.

He was born on September 8, 1928, in Rector, Ark., and was the son of the late William Orla and Lola (Oakley) Fielder.

Billie was united in marriage to Bessie Mae Simpson on November 23, 1954.

Billie served in the United States Navy as an airplane mechanic. During his military duties, he received the Navy Accommodation Medal for saving a pilot after a plane crash. He retired in 1969 as Chief Petty Officer after over 23 years of dedicated service to his country. After military retirement, he spent many years as a carpenter.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Mae Fielder; four brothers, Ronald Fielder, Rex Fielder, James Fielder, and Wayne Fielder.

Billie is survived by his son, Lee Fielder of Little Rock, Ark.; daughter, Audrey Collins of Piggott, Ark.; four grandchildren: Lindsay Poole of Piggott, Megan Dalton of Nashville, Tenn., Hillary Harmon of Piggott, and Jordan Ralph of Piggott;

thirteen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; three sisters: Barbara Moore of Newport, Minn., Glenda Fielder of St. Peters, Mo., and Phyllis Eckhoff of St.Ann, Mo.; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Thursday, June 20, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Hoggard & Sons Chapel in Piggott with Barry Fielder officiating. Burial was in Mitchell Cemetery in Greenway. Pallbearers were Zephyer Tinsley, Shylan Newberry, Braden Ralph, Logan Ralph, Ethan Ralph, and Hadden Parrish. Honorary pallbearers were Brody Stebbins and Colton Groves.

Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.
