Poll worker training for Clay County will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, at the Piggott Community Center with the second training set for Saturday, Feb. 33, at 1 p.m. at the M.B. Ainley Community Center in Corning. Other trainings will be Tuesday afternoon, April 12, and Thursday afternoon, April 14, at 3:30 at the Corning Warehouse. It is noted that you must attend only one of the two trainings to be certified to work the polls for any election during the next two years. The Arkansas Division of Workforce Services recently opened an office on the Black River Technical College (BRTC) Paragould campus. The office is open from 8 a.m.

Three Rivers College awarded the Leonard Query Memorial Scholarship to Annalee Massey of Piggott, AR for the Fall 2023 semester. Leonard Query Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to an in-district sophomore in the field of Marketing and Sales.

The Rector City Council meeting set for Monday, Jan. 1, 2024, has been rescheduled to Monday, Jan.

Each summer, the Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Educational Center in Piggott hosts a writerin- residence position. The residency will take place during the entire month of June and includes lodging at a loft apartment in downtown Piggott.

TheArkansas Department of Health (ADH) Office of Oral Health is partnering with theArkansas Foodbank Network to provide more than 5,000 oral health kits to Arkansans in need. The oral health kits, which include toothbrushes, toothpaste, and floss, will be available to the Foodbank’s member organizations beginning this fall.
