Times-Democrat News Staff Rector’s annual Neighbor to Neighbor (N2N) cleanup event will be held Saturday, Aug. 20, with volunteers meeting at the Pavilion at Rector Memorial Park.

A Beginners Embroidery Workshop has been planned at Powhatan Historic State Park. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, and the registration fee is $15. A “Peach Topping Preserves” canning class will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 25 at the Education Center of the Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum. Class size is limited therefore interested parties should sign up soon. This will be a hands-on class. Attendees will receive a recipe and a jar of the peach preserves to keep.
