Quilting workshop planned

Quilting, a popular pastime, joined together not only pieces of fabric, but people’s lives. With this in mind, a Beginners Quilting Workshop has been planned at Powhatan Historic State Park. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, and the registration fee is $15. Organizers note participants will learn the basics of quilting: from piecing the squares, layering the quilt, and the quilting stitch. Fee includes all materials and class size is limited. St. Francis Picnic Pageant Winners

Carson Musgraves (center) was crowned Baby Miss St. Francis. She is the six-month-old daughter of Jake and Hadleigh Musgraves of Pollard. First alternate (right) was Lucy Kopiness the six-month-old daughter of Brent and Lindsey Kopiness of Rector. Ansley Risinger, the eight-month-old daughter of Hayden and Gabriele Risinger of Piggott was second alternate.

MISS PIGGOTT 2022

Handley McAtee was crowned Miss Piggott 2022 at the annual picnic on the Fourth of July. She is the 15-year-old daughter of Bart and Laurie McAtee of Kennett.

FAIRY GARDEN NOW OPEN

Matilda and Karl Pfeiffer Museum and Study Center has added a fairy garden to their outdoor activities for the children. McCoy and Collier reunion planned

Plans are underway for a reunion of all descendants and relatives of the late Newton Jasper McCoy and Arthur Collier. The event will take place from 12 noon until 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10 at the Rector Community Center. Everyone is asked to bring a dish and en joy the fellowship.
