Organizers of the annual Nimmons Old Timers Dinner are happy to announce the dinner will once again take place. This year’s dinner will be held beginning at noon on Sunday, Sept. 4, at the community center. Current, and former, residents of the Nimmons area are invited to attend, and bring a dish for the potluck meal. They’ll also be accepting donations at the door, with the proceeds going toward the continued upkeep of the Nimmons Cemetery.
The traditional slate of beauty pageants are scheduled in conjunction with this year’s St. Francis Picnic, set for Saturday, July 16, at the picnic grounds in that community.
A Greenway Picnic planning meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday, July 8, at the Greenway City Hall.

Conditions were extremely hot for the large crowd in attendance at the 95th annual Piggott Fourth of July Picnic. A variety of carnival rides and activities on the midway were enjoyed by kids of all ages Monday.

White and Associates, Crancer Agency and Baldwin Conservation Group held an open house on Tuesday, June 28, to officially welcome customers and friends to the new location at 304 S. Main Street in Rector. The ribbon cutting is a traditional function of the Rector Area Chamber of Commerce. Rector High School Helping Hands Foundation wrapped up business for 2021 activities and benevolence program at a recent board meeting. Sherry Dills, president, and Heather Simmons, secretary-treasurer, each presented year-end reports.
Once again, a full schedule of pageants from birth to 20 years will accompany the Piggott Fourth of July picnic. The first three pageants will be held the evening of July 3, with the remainder being held on July 4. All pageants will be held on the stage at the picnic grounds.
The annual Pollard Picnic, to benefit the New Hope Cemetery, will be held Saturday, July 9, in Pollard. Fried chicken dinners, music, baseball games, games for children, and beauty pageants will highlight this year’s picnic.
