Once again, a full schedule of pageants from birth to 20 years will accompany the Piggott Fourth of July picnic. The first three pageants will be held the evening of July 3, with the remainder being held on July 4. All pageants will be held on the stage at the picnic grounds.
The annual Pollard Picnic, to benefit the New Hope Cemetery, will be held Saturday, July 9, in Pollard. Fried chicken dinners, music, baseball games, games for children, and beauty pageants will highlight this year’s picnic.
1982 Allison Shanklin and Darla Stow attended the fortieth annual Arkansas Girl’s State June 6-11 at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia. Allison and Darla each had a really great time.

The 95th annual Piggott Fourth of July Picnic and Homecoming Celebration kicks-off Sunday afternoon, July 3, with the first of three pageants and culminates with a full day of events and activities on Monday, July 4, as Independence Day is marked for 2022.
Volunteers are needed to man the hamburger stand at the annual Greenway Picnic. For more information call Mike Hill at 870-598-7361.
The children of Homer and Dora Causey will be hosting a family reunion at 11:30 a.m. o Saturday, June 25, at the Pollard Picnic grounds. All family and friends are invited to attend. Organizers note a potluck meal will be served at noon.
New Hope Baptist Church in Pollard is hosting Vacation Bible School each Wednesday night through July 20. Those attending will be served a meal at 5:30 p.m. with VBS being held from 6 to 8 p.m. This year’s theme is “Spark Studios” as those attending will have their imagination ignited and creativity awakened. Classes are available for preschool through youth. “Farming for me began when all I knew of the world was a diaper,” quipped Larry Huckabay whose family was selected as 2022 Clay County Farm Family of the Year. The Huckabay & Sons Farm cultivates 1,200 acres of rice, 1,200 acres of corn, and 475 acres of beans. The cotton farming went by the wayside in the 1970’s, shares Larry Huckabay.
