City of Piggott to host cornhole tournament
The City of Piggott will be hosting a cornhole tournament at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 26. at the Piggott Community Center. Those interested may call 870-598-2003 or email acrittenden@cityofpiggott.org. Sign-up fee is $45 per team with a 60/40 payout. A food truck will also be available during the event.
Winter crisis assistance continues
Black River Area Development Corporation announced that the winter regular assistance program closed March 31 but applications for winter crisis assistance will continue until Wednesday, April 30 or until funds are depleted. Applications will be accepted from 9 a.m. to noon, and from 1 to 3 p.m., on the second and fourth Mondays at the Piggott Community Center located at 161 E. Pfeiffer Street and on Tuesdays at the BRAD Senior Center in Corning located at 1403 Main Street. Those wanting additional information may call the BRAD office at 870-810-8396 or 870-202-1356.
Spring commencement set at UCA
The University of Central Arkansas will hold spring commencement on Thursday and Friday, May 1 and May 2, 2025. All ceremonies will be held at the Farris Center and will be livestreamed.
Piggott Chamber to host Bingo
Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce has been approved to host Bingo, which will be held the first Monday of each month beginning May 5 at the Piggott Community Center located at 161 E. Pfeiffer Street. Doors will open at 6 p.m. with games beginning at 6:30 p.m. Cash prizes are available and you must be 18 years of age or older to play.


Rector Cougar 4-H takes field trip to Tennessee Safari Park
On Saturday, March 22, the Rector Cougar 4-H Club kicked off their spring break with an exciting field trip to the Tennessee Safari Park. A total of 46 members and parents joined in on the adventure, making for a fun-filled day of animal encounters and outdoor exploration.

McCurry family shines at Three River Throwdown Show
The Rector Cougar 4-H Club had an outstanding showing at the Three River Throwdown Show in Imboden, Arkansas, on March 22, with the McCurry family leading the charge and demonstrating true talent and dedication in the goat breeding division.
