Rector Chamber banquet scheduled April 24
The annual Rector Area Chamber of Commerce banquet, Rector….Always Home, is scheduled for Thursday, April 24 at 6:30 p.m. at the Rector Community Center.

HPMEC announces 2025 theme as part of PSB’s 95th anniversary
The Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Educational Center has announced its 2025 theme, ‘Investing in the Community,’in recognition of Paul and Mary Pfeiffer’s significant contributions to Piggott and the broader Clay County community. Paul and Mary Pfeiffer relocated from St. Louis, Missouri, to Piggott, Arkansas, where they acquired 63,000 acres of land. Until Paul’s passing in 1950, the couple played a pivotal role in implementing numerous community improvements, including the rechartering of the Bank of Piggott as Piggott State Bank in 1930, following its closure during the Great Depression. This institution will commemorate its 95th anniversary on March 19. Everyone is invited to the bank lobby for cake on Wednesday, March 19, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., as HPMEC celebrates this milestone.

Velma Pritchett turned 100 years old on Feb. 21 and was honored with a drop in birthday celebration on Sat. Feb. 22 with over 300 friends and relatives dropping by to offer their best wishes.
