The Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a fall city wide yard sale on Saturday, Oct. 5. As with the spring event, the yard sale fee will be waived by the City of Piggott for that day and a list of participating locations will be available from the Chamber of Commerce. Those wanting to include their sale on the list may call the Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce during regular business hours at 870-5983167, email chamberpg@yahoo.com or visit the chamber office at 100 W. Main Street.
The Rector Area Chamber of Commerce will host their annual membership meeting from 12 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15 at the Rector Community Center. Lunch will be catered by Traveling Wisk and will include lasagna, salad, breadsticks and desserts for a cost of $15 per person the day of the meeting.
Stefan Gramling of Piggott was among nearly 20 students in Middle Tennessee State University’s AMC SIGGRAPH organization who attended a nearly weeklong conference in Denver, Colorado, where they had the opportunity to network, volunteer and participate in special sessions with companies like Pixar and Disney.
Powhatan Historic State Park will host a Bookbinding Workshop from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5. Park staff will teach participants how books are made by hand. Participants will explore the rich history of books and how they influenced Arkansas History while learning the skills to make their own. Participants will leave with their own handmade journal. Space is limited and registration is required. Registration fee is $25. Noah Smith of Piggott has been named to Southern New Hampshire University’s (SNHU) Summer 2024 President’s List. The summer terms run from May to August.
Arkansas State University has announced the list of students who completed degree requirements to graduate at Summer Commencement at First National Bank Arena. The list includes graduates from 41 states and D.C., and 18 other countries.
Powhatan Historic State Park will host a Great Arkansas Cleanup Day from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12. Each year the Great Arkansas Cleanup welcomes participants to join park staff in keeping the Natural State as beautiful as possible.
