In celebration of 80 years of the Miss Rector pageant past Miss Rector Queens are encouraged to participate in a walk-out during the Ms. Rector pageant at 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1. Arkansas State University has announced the list of students who completed degree requirements to graduate at spring commencement at First National Bank Arena. Chancellor Todd Shields presented diplomas at the associate, bachelor’s, master’s, specialist and doctoral levels, along with various program certificates, as awarded through the various colleges: Agriculture, Neil Griffin College of Business, Education and Behavioral Science, Engineering and Computer Science, Liberal Arts and Com-munication, Nursing and Health Professions, Beck Sciences and Mathematics, and University College.
The 94th edition of the annual Greenway Picnic, held each year to fund the continued upkeep of the beautiful Mitchell Cemetery, is set for this Saturday, Aug. 3, at the community’s picnic grounds and will feature the traditional slate of beauty pageants.
PHS Class of 1974 will celebrate their 50th class reunion on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2024, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Strawberry Event Center at 107 Main, Holcomb, Mo. Clay County Farm Bureau board member Keith Woolverton recently presented one of the 2024 Farm Bureau Scholarships to Jessie Henson of Pollard. Henson, a recent graduate of Piggott High School, will be attending Arkansas State University this fall semester while studying in the field of Radiologic Science. The local Clay County Farm Bureau presents a $500 scholarship to a deserving graduate from each of their county school systems each year. Henson is the daughter of Roger and Lorissa Henson.
