“It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas” in Rector

When the Christmas season is ushered in with the Rector Christmas Parade held on Sunday, Dec. 3, multiple opportunities for engaging with family will be available. Rector Downtown Central has set aside an area in the new Pocket Park on Main Street for friend and family photographs. In the Downtown Park, a banner has been placed announcing the season to all who drive by the park. In addition, Dars Sign Me Up has decorated an area of the Downtown Park with a “Merry Christmas, Rector” message. All signage is arranged to encourage photos and photographers.

HPMEC to host fruit cake workshop

Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Educational Center will host a fruit cake workshop at 5:30 p.m., Monday, Dec. 4. Instructor for the workshop will be Suzie Morris. Fee for the class is $10 and space is limited to 15 par-ticipants. Persons interested may register by calling the museum at 870-598-1637. “This is a family recipe and Suzie says she gets in trouble with other family members when referencing where the recipe comes from. Her Aunt Ruby Wellman and Aunt Opal Rodery both made this delicious treat. Suzie also added that her mother used to make the cakes every year for the customers at the oil company,” stated HPMEC Director Shannon Williams.
