A special exhibit featuring the likeness of Ernest Hemingway will be available from Sept. 1 through Oct. 20 at Arkansas State University Museum. The exhibit is open 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on weekdays and on Saturdays.

The Clay County Fair is set for Sept. 13 to 16, and commercial booths are now available for rental. The booths are indoor, air condi-tioned and include electrical hook-ups. Rental rates are just $50, which covers the full run of the fair. Those wanting additional information, or to reserve a booth, may contact Barbara Collier at 870 598-7311.

The 43rd annual Maynard Pioneer Days is set Thursday, Sept. 14 through Saturday, Sept. 16. They’ll kick things off this year with “School Night” at 5 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 14, at the Pioneer Park and Museum. The festivities continue on Friday with craft booths, food and a free concert by Cory Jackson at 7 p.m. The annual parade is set for 10 a.m. on Saturday, with other activities including a turkey shoot at 1 p.m. There will also be crafts, concessions, blacksmithing demonstrations and music from Dixon Street. Piggott Farmers Market is still open every Friday from 8 a.m. to noon at the First National Bank Pavilion on East Main.

September is Library Card Sign-up Month, a time when Piggott Public Library joins the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries nationwide to remind everyone about the valuable resources available with a library card.

In response to popular demand, the Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a fall city wide yard sale on Saturday, Oct. 7. As with the spring event, the yard sale fee will be waived by the City of Piggott for that day and a list of participating locations will be available from the Chamber of Commerce.
