Piggott plans city wide yard sale
In response to popular demand, the Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a fall city wide yard sale on Saturday, Oct. 7. As with the spring event, the yard sale fee will be waived by the City of Piggott for that day and a list of participating locations will be available from the Chamber of Commerce. Those wanting to include their sale on the list may call the Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce during regular business hours at 870-598-3167 or email chamberpg@yahoo.com. Those who prefer may stop by the chamber office at 100 W. Main.
Clay County Fair Parade entries being sought
The annual Clay County Fair Parade is set for 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 16, and entrants are now being recruited. In keeping with tradition, the parade will begin at the First Baptist Church of Piggott, located a block west of the square on West Main Street, and will end at the fairgrounds. Line up and registration will start at 9:15 a.m. at the church and entrants are asked to be lined up by 9:30 a.m.
Demolition derby set Sept. 16 at fairground
A demolition derby will be held Saturday, Sept.16 in conjunction with the Clay County Fair. The event will be held at the Clay County Fairgrounds. Peewee starts at 6:30 p.m. and the adult competition at 7 p.m. Those who want more information may call Rick Hardy at 573-344-1110.

4-H Youth Leadership take agriculture tour
Agriculture and agriculture related professions are the number one employer in Clay County. The 4-H Youth Leadership Citizenship Team agriculture tour took place on Wednesday, Aug. 23. Eighteen junior students on the YLCT from Piggott, Rector, and Corning High Schools had the opportunity to participate in the tour.
Reunions
The Rector High School Class of 1963 will celebrate their 60th class reunion at 3 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 2, 2, at the Rector First United Methodist Church Educational Building, located at 116 W. Third St., Rector.
