Garner to compete in pageant at Williams Baptist University

For the months of March and April, the Piggott Public Library will have a special display on loan from the Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum. The display features Pauline Pfieffer, wife of Ernest Hemingway, who was also a journalist. Stop in to see it and learn about an important lady from Piggott’s history.
TheAmerican Red Cross will hold a blood drive from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. Monday, March 20 at the Piggott First United Methodist Church located at 188 North 3rd Avenue.
The Black River Technical College Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 16 in the Richard Gaines Technology Building conference room at the BRTC Pocahontas location. The meeting will be held to discuss the BRTC fees structure and a resolution to recognize new additional instructional sites.
The Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Education Center will host a watercolor workshop from 9 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 18. Newcomer to town, Milo Stephens, will be the instructor of the workshop, which will be held in the education center. There is a $40 fee which will include tour and class instruction. Arkansas State University will proceed with creation of a College of Veterinary Medicine in Jonesboro, and ASU Three Rivers will upgrade its nursing program with an $8 million facility upgrade and expansion in Malvern.
Powhatan Historic State Park will host an Archaeology Open House from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday March 24. Visitors are encouraged to join park staff and archaeologists from the Jamie C. Brandon Center to explore an archaeological excavation and visit the historic town of Powhatan to see how archaeology comes to life. Visitors will also have an opportunity to explore historical documents in the nearby archives at NEARA and participate in living history to bring the town to life. This event is free to the public.
