Applications now being accepted for HPMEC writer-in-residents
Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Education Center has set the date for their 2023 writer-in-residence program. Applications are now being accepted and the selected candidate will be lodged in the loft apartment on the downtown square. IT HAPPENED HERE YEARS AGO….
1982 Former Piggott resident Craig Morris is set to appear with the Ronnie McDowell show at the Paragould High School Auditorium. Boyce McCord, owner of McCord Agri-Service in Piggott, died of an apparent heart attack on Thursday, November 18.

RES Honor Roll
The following Rector Elementary students were named to the Honor Roll for the first nine weeks: First Grade Sherry Cate’s class: Macee Blankenship, Xzavier Brown, Emma Chappell, Adalyn Cross, Khloe Dinkins, Stage Featherston, Treyson Hopper, Landry Mabrey, Daniel Patrick, Madalynne Pereira, Drake Small, Lukas Woods and Lunabelle Young.

FAFSA GIFT BASKET WINNER
October was Arkansas’ College Application month and as part of the activities included during the month, students were encouraged to submit their FAFSA (free application for federal student aid). Rector High School had 14 seniors successfully complete their applications which automatically entered them into a drawing for a gift basket. Winner of the gift basket valued at over $100 was Brett Fair. “We would like to thank Harps and Sonic for their gift card donations and supporting this effort,” commented RHS career training coach Kathy Fowler.

Brooke Lenderman awarded Nightingale scholarship
Brooke Lenderman Awarded Nightingale Scholarship The Florence Nightingale Scholarship has been awarded to Brooke Lenderman of Paragould for the spring 2023 semester. Lenderman is a 2009 graduate of Greene County Tech.
Retirement party planned for Gay Johnson
The Clay County Library Board will host a retirement party for longtime librarian Gay Johnson from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m.
Piggott Chamber to host annual Christmas Fest
Plans are complete, as the Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce is scheduled to host their annual Christmas Fest on Saturday, Dec. 3. Activities are slated from noon to 4:30 p.m. on the square in downtown Piggott, followed by the annual Christmas Parade at 5 p.m.
