Many years ago, Pat Martin of Rector wrote a story poem about a little bear’s willingness to forgive entitled Little Bear’s Forgiveness. Intended to be pantomimed as it was read aloud, the poem was well received among the First General Baptist Church membership those many years ago.
Three Black River Technical College (BRTC) leaders attended and presented at the 50th annual Arkansas Dean’s Association (ADA) at Arkansas Tech University. At this year's conference, several BRTC administrators attended and presented at the conference.
Piggott Marching Mohawks has made great strides in their performances this year by winning numerous awards in competitions. Competing against four other bands in class A in the Sonic Mid-South Marching Classic in Jonesboro, the Marching Mohawks won first place in percussion and drum major while winning a third place for band.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) BreastCare program coordinates efforts with a statewide network of providers offering no-cost breast and cervical cancer screenings and follow-up services.
Powhatan Historic State Park will once again be offering Ghost Walk tours. The tours are set for Saturday, Oct. 29. Admission is $5.50 for adults and $3.50 for children under 12. The Williams Baptist University Theatre department will open its 2022-23 season with a production of “You Can’t Take It With You” Oct. 28-29 in Startup Chapel as part of the 2022 Homecoming celebration.
First Baptist Church of Piggott will host a fifth Sunday singing at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 30, with the theme for the night being “When we all get to heaven”. Singers from FBC, Hitts Chapel and the First General Baptist Church will be leading a night of worship and praise.
