Rhonda Wiley-Jones, a native of Piggott, published her debut novel, “Song of Herself” this fall. Books in paperback and kindle versions can be purchased on Amazon. An audio version will be released in the near future.
Piggott Farmers Market will hold a fall extravaganza from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29 at the First National Bank Pavilion on Main Street. There will be prize drawings with first place being $10 in market bucks to be used at any farmers market vendor, second drawing is for a plant from Williams Nursery, the third drawing will also be for $10 market bucks and the grand prize will be a basket full of goodies from the vendors. Tickets will be fifty cents each or five tickets for $2.25 or 10 tickets for $4.25.

Powhatan Historic State Park will once again be offering Ghost Walk tours. The tours are set for Saturday, Oct.
Jim and Patricia Mabrey will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a dropin reception from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23 at their home located at 214 Idlewild Street in Rector. The couple was wed Oct. 20, 1972 at the Rector First General Baptist Church with Rev. Dobie Shelton officiating.
A Rector Halloween Block Party is planned from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30 at the Rector Memorial Park. Among the activities will be a trunk or treat, bounce houses, hayrides, games and prizes. Also being offered are hot dogs, cotton candy, popcorn and more. The event is being hosted by the local churches and is a free community event for the whole family.
