Piggott Community Alliance plans ‘trunk or treat’
The Piggott Community Alliance is hosting their annual “trunk or treat” from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31. As in previous years, the event is slated to be held around the courthouse square in Piggott. Organizers indicated that the event is open to anyone who would like to come and hand out candy.
Extension Homemakers plan indoor yard sale Nov. 5
Clay County Extension Homemakers are sponsoring an indoor yard sale to be held from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Piggott First Baptist Church to host fifth Sunday singing
First Baptist Church of Piggott will host a fifth Sunday singing at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 30, with the theme for the night being “When we all get to heaven”. Singers from FBC, Hitts Chapel and the First General Baptist Church will be leading a night of worship and praise.

Pie crust class planned Oct. 27
A homemade pie crust class, sponsored by Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Education Center, will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 27 at the Piggott Community Center. Each person will get firsthand experience and will be able to take a crust home. Class space is limited and filling up fast. Registration fee is $10 per person and must be paid upon registering. Ghost Walk tours planned at Powhatan Historic Park
Powhatan Historic State Park will once again be offering Ghost Walk tours. The tours are set for Saturday, Oct.
City of Rector requesting bricks from old Rector High School
The City of Rector is repairing the brickwork supporting the Welcome to Rector sign that was damaged several weeks ago by an unknown driver and automobile. The sign is located east of Rector on Hwy. 49.

Mabreys to celebrate 50th wedding anniversary
Jim and Patricia Mabrey will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a dropin reception from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23 at their home located at 214 Idlewild Street in Rector. The couple was wed Oct. 20, 1972 at the Rector First General Baptist Church with Rev. Dobie Shelton officiating.
