Once again this year, both the Piggott and Rector School Districts are taking part in the USDA Summer Feeding program. Under the federally-funded effort, all those under the age of 18 are provided free meals at local schools.
Members of the Arkansas State Trumpet Ensemble from Arkansas State University have received the prestigious honor of being asked to perform at the 2024 International Trumpet Guild Conference in Anaheim, Calif., May 28 through June 1.
In observance of the Memorial Day holiday, all federal, state, county and local offices will be closed on Monday, May 27. The closures include both Clay County courthouses, the three county libraries, all local city halls along with state and federal government offices.
The summer 2024 Hemingway-Pfeiffer Writers’ Retreat for adults is scheduled June 17-21. Registration is $325. Lunch and breaks are included. Retreats are held in the Educational Center and Hemingway Barn-Studio and offer adults the opportunity to work on personal creative writing under the direction of a professional mentor.
