Volunteers needed for Great Arkansas Cleanup

Volunteers are needed to participate in this year’s Great Arkansas Cleanup from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at Lake Charles State Park located at 3705 Highway 25, Powhatan, Ark. Each year the Great Arkansas Cleanup welcomes participants to join park staff in keeping the Natural State as beautiful as possible. The event is free and open to the public. Snow emphasizes community connections

Craig Snow, 1982 Rector High School graduate and successful entrepreneur, told how he took the lessons he learned in Rector and used them to embark on many successful endeavors throughout his life and career. His primary point was “Connections Matter” whether they are those forged through high school memories or between neighbors. “Creating community is vital for people and the town itself,” he said. “School, church, work – every connection was important in my upbringing and created steps to a career of importance to my family.” Snow continued to mention the things he learned during his growing up years in Rector to include, “Lean on community, learn from community, and allow these connections to guide you and keep you on the right path.”

1984 The annual Piggott Lions Club pancake breakfast last Saturday morning was wall attended by over 300 area residents to promote the proposed Piggott Public Library. The Lions Club has already sponsored two auctions for the benefit of the new library. Proceeds from the Lions has now reached over $5,000.
