Veterans from across southeast Missouri and northeast Arkansas are invited to attend an informational town hall to learn about services available to them and have their questions about VA health care answered.
Vietnam Veterans and their families will be honored at the Rector Community Museum Ford Room on Thursday, March 28, at 10 a.m. with a variety of program notables. Patrons will recall that the first historic display in the RCM was the Military Room showcasing mannequins dressed in donated uniforms from Rector area families, the soldiers representing all branches of the United States Military so that all service members would be recognized and honored.
Piggott is gearing up for its annual city wide yard sale set for Saturday, March 30. The Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce reminds local residences sales held that day will not be required to purchase a permit from the city. Locations will also be featured on a list, which will be available from the Chamber of Commerce. The last day for listings is today, Wednesday, March 27. The 49th annual Piggott FFA Auction will also be held on Saturday at the Clay County Fairgrounds.
The Clay County Quorum Court met in regular session on Monday, March 18 at the courthouse in Piggott with Justices Patrick Patterson, Dennis Haines, David Hatcher, David Cagel, Brad Green, George Lowe, and Randy Kingston present and Justices Jody Henderson and Neal Smith absent.
Once again, the Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce sponsored the “Proudest Kid in Piggott” essay contest. Piggott Elementary School third grade students continued the long-standing tradition, as they composed essays telling why they are the “Proudest Kid in Piggott.” Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Educational Center staff members judged the entries.
National Nutrition Month is an annual campaign established in 1973 by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. During the month of March, everyone is invited to learn about making informed food choices and developing healthful eating and physical activity habits.
A commodity distribution for Clay County is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Black River Technical College’s BRTC @ The Armory Career and Technical Center (CTC) students recently attended Weld-AThon on the ASUNJonesboro. Students visited with several employers including Greenbrier, Best Manufacturing, and Trinity Rail.
The Ozark Folk Center State Park in Mountain View will host nine music events at the park’s 1,000seat indoor music venue, Ozark Highlands Theater, during their upcoming season April 2 - October 26. Evening concerts, music contests and festivals will feature top talent from the Ozarks and beyond, including award-winning songwriters, bands and dancers.
