RCM to host Vietnam Veterans Day program

Vietnam Veterans and their families will be honored at the Rector Community Museum Ford Room on Thursday, March 28, at 10 a.m. with a variety of program notables. Patrons will recall that the first historic display in the RCM was the Military Room showcasing mannequins dressed in donated uniforms from Rector area families, the soldiers representing all branches of the United States Military so that all service members would be recognized and honored.

Piggott to hold city wide yard sale

Piggott is gearing up for its annual city wide yard sale set for Saturday, March 30. The Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce reminds local residences sales held that day will not be required to purchase a permit from the city. Locations will also be featured on a list, which will be available from the Chamber of Commerce. Those wanting to be added to the list or for additional information may call the chamber office in the depot building at 870--598-3167 or email at chamberpg@yahoo.com. The last day for listings is today, Wednesday, March 27. The 49th annual Piggott FFA Auction will also be held on Saturday at the Clay County Fairgrounds.

Proudest Kid essay winners named

Once again, the Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce sponsored the “Proudest Kid in Piggott” essay contest. Piggott Elementary School third grade students continued the long-standing tradition, as they composed essays telling why they are the “Proudest Kid in Piggott.” Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Educational Center staff members judged the entries.

Healthy Eating on a Budget

National Nutrition Month is an annual campaign established in 1973 by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. During the month of March, everyone is invited to learn about making informed food choices and developing healthful eating and physical activity habits.

Acclaim Press still accepting information

Acclaim Press, who is publishing the Clay County History books, is still accepting family and church history stories. The release date has been pushed back to fall of 2025. Those wanting to submit articles may do so at the Piggott Chamber office at 100 W. Main or by calling 870-598-3167. There is no cost to submit a story.
