The Ozark Folk Center State Park in Mountain View will host nine music events at the park’s 1,000seat indoor music venue, Ozark Highlands Theater, during their upcoming season April 2 - October 26. Clay County Sheriff’s Department reports that on Monday, Feb. 26, at approximately 10:40 a deputy traveling through Corning when he made a traffic stop on a vehicle for an equipment violation. The traffic stop was at the intersection of U.S. 62 and U.S. 67. When the deputy came in contact with the driver, he advised the driver of why he was stopped and asked for his driver license. The deputy noticed what appeared to be drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. A search of the vehicle was conducted and other illegal items were found. Taken into custody was 54year-old Terry Lee Garrett of Paragould. He was transported to the Clay County Detention Center and booked on charges of possession of Methamphetamine or Cocaine GT 2GM but LT 10GM , 2 counts of felony drug paraphernalia, no liability insurance, and defective vehicle equipment.
Black River Technical College (BRTC) Career and Technical Center (CTC) recently hosted Clay County 4H Tech Changemakers Jaxon Burns, Adam Holmes, and Jaydin Stirnaman along with Clay County Extension agents Christin Holmes and Ben Holcomb as guest speakers. The group conducted a recreational drone pilot workshop with BRTC CTC students.
Turnout was light for the 2024 primary and school election in Clay County with only 1,854 ballots cast. A total of 1,469 ballots were cast in the Republican Primary, another 257 in the Democratic, and 128 Nonpartisan.
Piggott Elementary School second graders presented a living wax museum in the elementary gym on Thursday, March 7 to a large crowd of parents, relatives and friends. The students were in groups with each group researching a historical figure.
