Piggott festivities set for Friday

Piggott High School will mark basketball homecoming Friday, Jan. 26. This year’s homecoming court will be introduced during the annual royalty assembly, set for 1:30 p.m. in the PHS gym with the pep rally to follow. The royalty will also be presented at approximately 7 p.m. between the junior and senior high games as the Piggott Mohawks take on the Harrisburg Hornets.

Pesticide Applicator Training planned Thursday in Corning

The Clay County Extension Service is offering its annual pesticide applicator training at 9 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, at Clay County Electric located on Hwy. 67 near Corning and at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 20, at the Extension office located at 148 East Main in Piggott. The training is required for agriculture producers to qualify for license to purchase restricted pesticides. The class costs $20 and those interested must be present for the entire training session to be certified for a license for the Arkansas State Plant Board. The course can also be completed online at https:// courses.uada.edu/. Piggott School District celebrates School Board Member Recognition Month

The Arkansas School Boards Association (ASBA) announced that January is School Board Member Recognition Month in Arkansas. School board members play an essential role in our community. The Piggott School District will join other districts in Arkansas in celebration of their board by thanking them for the time, talents, and knowledge they bring to their district and for their commitment to the families and children of their community.
