Court date postponed for Piggott women

According to Clay County Sheriff Ronnie Cole, the court date for Joyce Parks and Rhonda Parks has been postponed to April 12 at the request of their attorney. The Piggott Police Department obtained felony warrants for the two women on Sept. 19, 2023, for first degree false imprisonment, terroristic threatening and third degree domestic battery involving two juveniles.

Piggott Health System recognized by Arkansas Hospital Assoc.

Pesticide Applicator Training planned

The Clay County Extension Service is offering its annual pesticide applicator training at 9 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, at Clay County Electric located on Hwy. 67 near Corning and at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 20, at the Extension office located at 148 East Main in Piggott. The training is required for agri-culture producers to qualify for license to purchase restricted pesticides. The class costs $20 and those interested must be present for the entire training session to be certified for a license for the Arkansas State Plant Board. The course can also be completed online at https:// courses.uada.edu/. IT HAPPENED HERE YEARS AGO….

1984 A major change in the manufacturing focus of the Brown Shoe Co. plant in Piggott will result in the temporary layoff of the bulk of the employees at the facility according to a company official in St. Louis. He said the company is converting from the manufacture of traditional men’s footwear to component items for women’s, men’s and children’s shoes.
