Pig-gott Smoked BBQ Cook-Off set for Saturday

Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce recently announced the second annual Pig-gott Smoked BBQ Cook-Off set for Saturday, Oct. 21. Teams are slated to compete for cash and trophies—not to mention bragging rights. The day will also include live music, a cornhole tournament, bouncy houses for the kids, vendors and prizes as the sweet smell of barbecue will fill the air. Everyone is invited to attend.

Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas receives grant from Nestlé USA

The Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas received $25,962 from Nestlé USA to support children at risk of hunger through its Backpack Program. The mission of the Backpack Program is to meet the needs of hungry children by providing them with nutritious and easy-to-prepare food to take home on weekends and school holidays when other resources are not available.

Rector city wide yard sale Saturday

The Rector city wide yard sale will be held Saturday, Oct. 14. Rector Memorial Park facilities will be avail-able to residents free of charge during the day, but those using the park are reminded to bring their own tables for displays and will be required to clean their area once the sale is completed.

Park Cemetery in need of donations

Powhatan Historic State Park to offer Ghost Walk guided tours

Powhatan Historic State Park will once again be offering Ghost Walk tours where park interpreters will take guests on guided tours, highlighting the many ghost stories, folk tales and legends about the park. The tours are set for Friday, Oct. 20 and Saturday, Oct. 21. Admission is $6.50 for adults and $4.50 for children under 12. Space is limited and reservations are required.
