Arkansas State University has announced the list of students who completed degree requirements to graduate at Spring Commencement, held May 6 in First National Bank Arena. Chancellor Todd Shields presented diplomas at the associate, bachelor, master, specialist and doctoral levels, along with various program certificates, as awarded through the various colleges: Agriculture, Neil Griffin College of Business, Education and Behavioral Science, Engineering and Computer Science, Liberal Arts and Communication, Nursing and Health Professions, Sciences and Mathematics, and University College.
Hemingway-Pfeiffer Education Center and Museum Director Shannon Williams hosted a farewell reception honoring Matthew Pitt who lived for the month of June in the apartment above The Market on the square in Piggott as Writer-in-Residence, a writing and mentoring program in its seventh year, underwritten by Piggott State Bank. Pitt’s experience in Piggott involved time for his own writing and mentoring eleven writers at the Education Center for a week.
Mitchell Cemetery will be holding a benefit indoor yard sale at the Greenway Picnic dining hall. The sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday, July 6 & 7. Baked goods and lots of miscellaneous will be available and a spokesperson noted that everything must go!
