A theatrical experience like no other is returning to the Ford Room inside the Rector Community Museum this Thursday, June 29, as Joe Mansfield brings his “Average Joe’s Magic Show” to Rector. The Ford Room continues to provide quality entertainment of different styles.

This year’s writer-in-residence for the Hemingway-Pfeiffer Writers Retreat is St. Louis native Matthew Pitt. Raised in St. Louis, Pitt now resided in Fort Worth and works as a professor at Texas Christian University.

The Delta Symphony Orchestra will offer its inaugural session of Youth String Camp this July. This day camp will run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., July 10 through July 14 in Jonesboro. The program is open to string students (violin, viola, cello, bass, harp, and piano) ages eight through 15. Participants will have sectional and full group instruction each day and will present a recital for family and friends on the last day of camp. Readers of all ages are invited to participate in the Summer Reading Program at the Piggott Public Library as they present “All Together Now and Bee-ing Kind.” The programs are at 11 a.m. Wednesdays during the month of June. The 2023 Summer Reading Program is open to children of all ages, with prizes, drawings, stories, reading logs, and more. This year the library has announced one of their big prizes is a giant Squishmallow Sunny the Bee pool float. Children will be able to enter their name for a chance to win during each program attended. The drawing for the winner will be held on June 28 at the Kinders concert.
A full schedule of pageants from birth to 21 years and up will once again accompany the Piggott 4th of July picnic. The entry fee will be $30 and registration starts 30 minutes prior to pageant start time and sign up will be behind the stage. Ages birth to four years old will be casual dress with ages five and up being pageant dress.
