Mary’s Chapel Cemetery meeting set June 11

The annual Mary’s Chapel Cemetery meeting will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 11, in the conference room of the Rector Community Center. Anyone with ties to the cemetery is urged to attend and help support the cemetery. Anyone interested in making a donation toward the upkeep of the cemetery may do so at any Regions Bank location to the Mary’s Chapel Cemetery Fund. You may also contact Perry Mills at 870783-0109.

Search warrant results in arrest at Corning

The Clay County Sheriff’s Department reports that on May 24, 2023, the department executed a search warrant at 822 Ferguson Road in Corning. The Sheriff’s Department had received information of drug activity at this residence. Arrested were 62-year-old Ricky Holcomb and 51-yearold Goldie Gray. Holcomb was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Gray was arrested on possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia X2. The two were transported to the Clay County Detention Center where they each are being held on a $50,000 bond.

PHS class of 1983 plans 40 year reunion

The PHS class of 1983 will be holding their 40-year class reunion on Sunday, July 2, 2023, at the Sugar Creek Country Club at 6:30 pm. The cost for attendance is $30.00 per person / $50.00 per couple. The class photo will be taken at 6:45 p.m. sharp! Dinner and live music by Randy Harrington and the Southern Tradition Band will follow. Hotel accommodations at a reduced rate are offered for your personal booking through June 1 at both the Hampton Inn and the Holiday Inn Express in Paragould. New Hope Baptist Church hosting Vacation Bible School

New Hope Baptist Church in Pollard invites all kids to their Twist and Turns VBS kickoff at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 7. Those attending will enjoy a night of worship, free food, games, and a fun way to kickoff the summer with vacation bible school. Vacation bible school begins today, Wednesday, June 7, and will continue each Wednesday night through July 19. Those attending will be served a meal at 5:30 p.m. with VBS being held from 6 to 8:15 p.m. This year’s theme is “Twist and Turns” as those attending will spin the spinner, beat the clock, skip ahead, level up, and play to win. Twist and Turns is a fantastical celebration of games of all kinds. Classes are available for preschool through youth. Those wanting more information may call 870-544-2364.

Piggott Summer Reading program begins today

Readers of all ages are invited to participate in the Summer Reading Program at the Piggott Public Library as they present “All Together Now and Bee-ing Kind.” The programs are at 11 a.m. Wednesdays during the month of June. The 2023 Summer Reading Program is open to children of all ages, with prizes, drawings, stories, reading logs, and more. This year the library has an-nounced one of their big prizes is a giant Squishmallow Sunny the Bee pool float. Children will be able to enter their name for a chance to win during each program attended. The drawing for the winner will be held on June 28 at the Kinders concert.

Rector Business Expo set for June 22

The City of Rector along with Rector Chamber of Commerce announce their joint sponsorship of a Business Expo which is designed to promote the Rector First initiative, the concept that encourages residents to shop local first. The Expo will take place on June 22 at the Rector Community Center. Doors open at 2 p.m. and the event will conclude at 6 p.m.
